What a morning! This was the first time we’ve been asked to photograph a real life proposal which was all a bit exciting! You’d think that the nerves would be all on the groom-to-be but… in making sure I was in a discreet location, out of sight and still able to capture the key moments at the right time I found that it was more nerve racking than shooting a wedding! However, after she said yes, everyone was a little more relaxed and the photos after the proposal were a real joy to capture. Showing and capturing pure joy is hard to reproduce in a photograph but Courtney and Josh made it so much easier today as we took photos straight after he proposed. It’s almost impossible to recreate that moment or feeling when you have just received the ring and know you’re going to spend the rest of your life with someone. We do have a lot of fun at our e-shoots with couples but it’s not the same as having your engagement shoot straight after the proposal.
Josh told us he had been preparing this proposal moment for a few months and asked me to hide out at Woollahra sailing club. He had carefully planned my spot where I could shoot down and be out of sight at the top of the sailing club. The spot was also very cleverly chosen to make sure I was as high as possible as my little 5’1′ self would have a little trouble photographing a 6’11” basketball player from the ground! The sailing club was just a handy short walk down from Sydney Sea planes where they had planned to go for Courtney’s belated Christmas gift. He did such a good job of keeping it all a secret that Courtney didn’t suspect a thing! (except for Josh’s super fast heart beat and a few strange questions about putting down her handbag)
On top of that, choosing an awesome ring which was the perfect fit and beautifully original at the same time without Courtney knowing at all was the icing on the cake, oh and not to mention the sea plane flight as well of course!
Congratulations guys! It was such really an honour to be part of this special moment in your lives 🙂 We are so happy for you and pray for God’s blessings for you both on this new journey towards marriage.
It was a bit of a candid camera moment here….
In disbelief that she actually had a ring on her finger!
